Our story

Three Range Pastoral is built on a family legacy of commitment to breeding highly profitable, naturally adapted cattle and a shared love of the land.

Our story begins with Kate’s parents, Steve and Esmae Taylor, who started the foundation herd over 30 years ago. Steve and Esmae had no back up if their cattle breeding business wasn’t profitable. They had to devise breeding objectives directly related to net profit alongside improving their country.  What they researched and developed is a very disciplined, sustainable and profitable breeding program, laying the groundwork for our herd to thrive in the tough conditions of western Queensland.

By continuing with these breeding principles, we continue to build a herd that is resilient, functional, and highly productive, all while embedding a culture of animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and family involvement.

Today, we continue this proven breeding program across  three properties - Wetlands at Augathella, Glenba at Morven, and our newest property, Amby Hills. The legacy of Kate’s parents has enabled Peter and Kate to pursue their passion for cattle breeding and raising their three boys on the land they all love.

Family & Succession

Our approach is deeply influenced by the values instilled by Steve and Esmae.

“We feel extremely fortunate for the way our succession process played out. Mum and Dad were very proactive and extremely generous. My family holds a unique perspective on relationships and succession.

Over 20 years ago my family suffered tragedy at its worst, losing my 19-year-old brother, Lawson, to a freak lightning strike on farm.

When it came to succession, my parents weren’t motivated by money - their value is in family and the reward of seeing their life’s work continued with the next generation.

They would have been miles ahead financially keeping the place, however they knew it would have locked us out forever. We certainly acknowledge what they have done for us, enabling us to raise our three boys in this unique lifestyle we’re so passionate about.” – Peter and Kate Moloney

Our Mission

Cattle breeding that is simple, low input, efficient and highly profitable, while regenerating the landscape. Alongside a culture that is fun, fosters personal growth and respect for our animals.

By selecting the most resilient animals across our gene pool and compounding them as quickly as we can, our breeding herd is evolving into a highly adapted, naturally resilient, clean coated, polled, flat back animal with good eyes and tidy sheath. These breeding parameters all started with my parents having nothing to fall back on – discipline and profit were essential.
